Can you shoot a movie with a smartphone?

The answer is yes! And You can shoot good quality products if you follow some recording and editing rules! With a smartphone everyone can tell an audio-visual tory, take a photograph, share information.

We talk about "user generated content" to highlight the importance of citizens (young people and adults) in telling stories and events related to their changing territory through social media.

"Communi-TV" project - supported by structures specialized in audiovisual and participatory youth production in France, Belgium and Italy – has the objective to train young people and young educators in the creation of multimedia contents produced with smartphones.

The project offers a series of workshops, a training course on participatory audiovisual practices that will lead to the shooting of “pocket films” by the team of selected boys and girls, highlighting their points of view on their territory and on the meaning of European citizenship.

Along with the creation of audio-visual content, participants will have access to an interactive e-learning platform.

Pocket film is a shooting technique that uses a smartphone or any mobile device (but it is also possible to use a camera or a pocket camera).

All productions will be included in a live event that will be broadcast in the three countries of the project partners (a live and online TV (TRIPLEX)).

SMART REPORTERS ON THE RUN!

The participating smart reporters will follow for the duration of the project a mixed training lab of: virtual training through e-learning platform (with interactive learning and verification of knowledge acquired through Moodle / Mooc (https://www.communitv.eu/)) and practical workshops focusing on the creation, designing and promotion of online audiovisual content. This training will allow all the participants to report the changing territory, especially in the actual context marked by the pandemic.

E-LEARNING AND PRACTICAL WORKSHOPS:

The project aims to favor the acquisition of participatory audiovisual techniques, methods and productions in the three partner countries of the project.

The laboratory and the e-learning course will focus on the following topics:
    • The television media system in Europe: from the beginnings to smartphones;
    • Mobile shooting rules: movements, image plan, image composition;
    • Making a pocket film;
    • Tips and tricks for the pocket film (stabilization, accessories, movement, sounds ...)
    • Writing the storyboard;
    • Interviews, vox-pop / micro-trottoir;
    • Video editing (with open source software);
    • Audio editing (with open source software).

WHO IS IT FOR?

The project will involve 8 young people (from 16 to 30 years old) and 5 youth educators per country (for a total of between 24 and 72 young people and involving between 15 and 30 educators).

ACTIVITIES:

INTERACTIVE COURSES: interactive learning  and verification of knowledge acquired through the Moodle / Mooc e-learning platform (https://www.communitv.eu/);

PRACTICAL WORKSHOPS: the calendar of meetings will be agreed directly with the participating students as part of the workshop course;

POCKET MOVIE PRODUCTION: making short film with your smartphone by learning shooting and framing techniques;

TRIPLEX: final online event in which children will create a presentation show of their productions broadcast live from the three countries.
